Everything Golden - The Grammy's 2014

By now, I'm sure you're all aware of my overwhelming interest in all things that shimmer. The leading ladies stepped out in their best attire for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards- and man did they make a statement. I don't know who spread the memo, but their was definitely a theme to last nights looks, neutrals and shine- but mostly shine.

So naturally, here's a round up of my top five pics:

You can't deny that Ciara was absolutely glowing last night in this Emilio Pucci number. The gown hugged her baby bump just right, and the intricate beading in luscious copper hues was absolutely radiant against her mocha skin. I'd say it is definitely the season for the mommy-to-be; they definitely put their best bump forward. [No pun intended]

So let's talk about the beautiful and awkwardly cute Anna Kendrick. Her opening presentation with Pharrell was slightly clever, but who can deny how amazing she looked in this Azzaro gown. It was the perfect representation of oh-so-low cut-outs, patchy beading, and a thigh-high slit. Although her look steered away from all the yummy golden and copper hues of the night, she definitely was a show stopper in this pastel lavender gown.

Good ol' Katy Perry never disappoints in her unique selections for all things red carpet. I absolutely loved this Valentino gown that called to Perry's musically inclined talent. The delicate layers of tulle draped beautifully against all of her curves. And the hints of musical notes were both playful and fun- almost bridal in fact. Trust me, there's no complaints here!

Here's a rare tribute to the infamous heart-breaker, Tay Swift. What can I say, the girl knows how to dress, and in none other than Gucci Premiere. I loved everything about this look- the beautifully engineered chain-mail, the high t-shirt neckline, and the highest of slits in back. I love this dress, but can't promise i will ever ever ever agree with her again- especially those dance moves she pulled during every performance last night.

Last but not least, my favorite Twitter queen, the stunning Christine Teigen in none other than a Johanna Johnson gown.  This slinky number featured over-sized golden sequins that hugged her petite little figure perfectly, not to mention the perfectly shaped V-neck for some almost NSFW cleavage. I adored this gown {{almost as much as I love her twitter rants.}} But, wasn't it so dreamy watching John Legend serenade her during his "All of Me" performance- I must admit, I died a little inside. 

P.S. Did anyone else peep Beyon-yon just having a grand old time sipping on something dark in the largest goblet ever. Props to being in love and having fun front row.

Better Late, Than Never

(A week late, to be exact.) 

Not to say that my Twitter feed wasn't buzzing with the latest trends on the red carpet for the 2014 Golden Globe Awards. But I digress, I've been rather preoccupied and non-attentive to my blog - but I'm very much in the know of the wear-about's in fashion. 

I must say, I found the red carpet to be rather boring, but I guess with age & red carpets comes the need for  the "classic" look. (Wait am I talking about wine? It sounds a lot like I'm speaking of wine.)  So without further or due, I present my top five picks ... in no particular order:

Props to the hostess, Amy Poehler, in this stunning number from Stella McCartney. This gown is the perfect combination of the season's top trends: high necks, and cut outs. There's something about asymmetry that I love on the right body, with her petite figure, there's no look she can do wrong.

Lets talk about simplicity, y'all - Didn't you love Margot Robbie in this nude gown from Gucci?  This monotone look matches perfectly with the bleached-out blonde color of her hair. But no really, a low V,  embellished accents, and a mile high slit is every thin girls dream. Finally, this look is polished off with minimal accessories and is nothing short of perfect.

You go Heidi Klum, barely recognized you in this Patti Smith-esque look. This Marchesa  gown draped beautifully across the delicate curves of her figure. The embroidered illusion chiffon paired with that oh-so-short slip combined the perfect elements of beauty and sex appeal. For a forty year old ex supermodel, I have absolutely no complaints for your style.

All that sparkles must shine too, but really could you get past the sparkles. Why yes, I am talking about this stunning piece by Rhea Costa on the beautiful Sosie Bacon. [Not quite sure who she is,] Mad props to Miss Golden Globe's stylist for putting her in this body con piece, with perfectly engineered embellishment ... on yet another nude gown. (Can you hear my excitement about the color palette this year?)

"Gucci Gucci, Louis Louis, Fendi Fendi, Prada." (It's a song y'all) Gucci, the correct answer is Gucci! Olivia Wilde was absolutely glowing in this floor length beaded gown from the famed design house. Pregnancy suits her, but so does this glam ensemble! High neck, long sleeved, and minimal jewelry - a sure masterpiece. But seriously,  I'm dead.

Most importantly, I'm rather proud of myself for not jumping on the Lupita Nyong'o train. [[And frankly I have no regrets!]]

Billboard Music Awards Recap

Although I personally don't know how relevant the Billboard Music Awards is these days compared to their musical counterparts, but i give mad props to them for hosting it in Vegas. See you in June!! But the stars [[mostly B list from what i gather-- what up Audrina Patridge?]] dawned the red carpet in what I must say is the most eclectic range of fashions.

Mad props to Selena Gomez in this little left to the imagination number from Atelier Versace. Granted it certainly fits her semi-conservative taste, I was happily surprised in her choice of high slits, cut outs and neon. Have I mentioned how much i adore neon's? Especially against such a clean silhouette.

Oh hey girl hey, I was always a fan of Hayden Panettiere- for whatever reason. I guess it's that whole old-fashioned back home feeling i get from her. Back to fashion.... I love the delicate ruffles framing her neck in this black gown from Halston Heritage. 

Who would have guessed J Lo would wear something with a deep V or strategically placed metallic embellishment? Not this girl. I kid. This uber chic number from Zuhair Murad perfectly frames this wonderfully curvaceous frame. I love the warming effect of the golds against her olive skin. 

Which brings me to Jennifer Morrison{{Don't really know who she is but i gather shes important.}}This blonde beauty really showed out in this barely there gown (?) from Kristian Aadverik. I think there's a fine line between lingerie and daintily draped fabric, but you know the saying - "What happens in Vegas..."

Which brings me to my final pick, Kelly Rowland. Someone was eager to bring back fashions reminiscent of her Destiny's Child days. I don't know whether to love or hate this metallic hot mess gown from Rami Al Ali, but I must say it hugs her body beautifully. A bit on the bright side but hey, I'm not THAT mad at it.

Style Watch: The Grammy Awards

So the award season continues, with the 55th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony. With some of the best and worst dressed celebrities in some majorly expensive couture. Luckily this year, I loved hated most of the frocks the stars donned, so it made this Top Five rather easy.

Katy Perry was by far my best dressed, aside from this Spring Bud color I loved the plunging neckline and bejeweled neck area. Although Perry bore a rather risque Gucci gown, but I give her props for defying the dress code for the evening. This is certainly a look for the books.

So lets talk about my current lady crush, current Girls HOTTIE Allison Williams. She donned this beaut by Kaufman Franco along the red carpet, and I must say it is rather opposite of her good girl all-American persona. I loved how this gown combined the perfect amount of elegance and edge.

I must say I'm not fond of The Swift, as I find her songs to be a bit whiny [even though I cant get one special tune out of my head] but I do however love whoever styled her for this glamorous night.Oh hey, J. Mendel, you chose the perfect gown for Tay Tay, and I love it!

If I were all grown up [and were ever invited to some sort of premiere or black tie event] I would certainly look to Carrie Underwood, in this lovely piece from Roberto Cavalli. She definitely got the memo as to whats acceptable to wear to The Grammy's, and I'm not mad at it!

So I'm a bit unsure of her importance, but I always have one tribute to the female able to pull of a suit or panted look on the red carpet. Fortunately the award goes to Rosci Diaz in this pantsuit from 5th & Mercer by LaLa Anthony. Can we say, love? So fresh and so clean clean.
