Chaos or Couture?

The 2013 Met Gala proved to be a highlight in this years offering on the red carpet. Bringing the likes of  A-list to D-list celebrities to dress to there P's and Q's to the so called "Punk: From Chaos to Couture" theme. Unfortunately for most, they didn't quite get the memo on the so called Punk couture, and with that I start my fav five...

First and foremost, I must hand it to my numero uno girl crush Blake Lively for showing out in this fierce number from Gucci Premiere. She somehow manages to perfectly merge the dark theme of the evening with this perfectly draped black train in this [almost] 1920's reminiscent gown.

I've got to give a hand to Nicole Richie for this underplayed white gown from Topshop. Props to her for running to the most literal definition of a "punk" or modern designer, but A+ for effort on the hair. Richie dawned a grey-blue dye job in this chignon like up do- a bold statement for an over the top socialite.

Oh hey girl hey, man I do love me some Jessica Alba, especially in this number from Tory Burch. Simple, antiquated, and cut out in all the right places. Although she failed the theme, she def brought some elegance to this extravagant night.

Fresh faced and reminiscent of a Grecian goddess, Katie Holmes looked absolutely radiant in this gown from Calvin Klein. I have a deep appreciation for the basics, and Klein definitely delivered in this beautifully draped piece for Ms. Holmes.

True to form and more importantly to her own tune, Queen Bey def delivered in this gown by Givenchy. It is almost reminiscent of McQueen in his hey day, but equally fit for Beyonce as she makes pit stops during her world tour. Although downplayed from the theme, I think it's befitting for the Queen.

Naturally I can't count and I therefore saved my absolute favorite for the very end. Enter Sarah Jessica Parker- in a bespoke gown custom designed by Giles Deacon. I LOVE this non-print print, looks like a floral, reminds you of a watercolor- all in all just real pretty. If that gown wasn't enough, lets not forget to mention this major headpiece by milliner Philip Treacy. The perfect merge or princess and rock- you go Glen Coco!

P.S. {To state it on the "nice" side} Did anyone notice how unflattering Kim K looked? Props to being fashionable and pregnant, Fail on large prints on growing bodies. Sorry, Riccardo Tisci, beautiful gown, wrong model.
